ZAK TRADE FAIRS & EXHIBITIONS PVT. LTD., CHENNAI, have organised their maiden Zak Glasstech International trade fair during December 04-07, 2003 at Mumbai, the Commercial Capital of India.

The event has been initially sponsored by McCoy Silicones Ltd. along with Wacker Chemie GmbH, Germany, Le Joint Francais, France and Kum Sung Diamond Co. Ltd., Korea. “Glass Yug”, the leading magazine relating to the Glass Industry in India accepted to be the Official Magazine from the initial stages. Subsequently, another leading magazine “Construction World”, which is popular amongst the Architects and builders also jointed to be the Official Magazine. Other magazines like “Masterbuilder”, “TW Busines Newspapers”, etc., have given wide publicity for the event.

There were Seminar Sessions on two days which was attended by nearly 100 architects / interior designers and builders. Eminent speakers from all over the world presented papers on various topics connected with Glass Industry as detailed below, which was received by the delegates in high esteem:

  • Mr. Sharanjit Singh, Managing Director of GSC Toughened Glass Pvt. Ltd., India, presented his paper on Glass Selection Factors.

  • Mr. Stephen Harryh, discussed in details about the use of safety films

  • Mr. Rajeev Gulati of Garware Polyesters Ltd., India, explained the usage of suncontrol films.

  • Mr. Pekka Nieminen, Area Director, Tamglass Ltd. Oy, Finland, presented a paper on Safety Glass Trends

  • Mr. Karl Gartner, Managing Director of Lisec Middle East Ltd., Dubai, discussed the importance of Process Glass in Modern Architecture

  • Mr. Johan ‘Hans’ Mortelmans, Technical Service Manager TROSIFOL, of HT Troplast AG, Germany, presented the paper on Long Term Stability of Laminated Safety Glass.

  • Mr. Alok Kumar Modi, Jt. Managing Director and Mr. David L. Rose, Managing Director of Gujarat Guardian Ltd., presented a paper on the Future of Glass Industry.

  • Mr. Peter Lalas, Senior Façade Engineer of Connell Mott MacDonald, Australia, presented a paper on Engineering Glass in Curtain Walls & Glass Walls.

  • Mr. Felix Tan, Regional Sales Manager for Asia, of Wacker Chemie GmbH, Germany, discussed on the Role of Silicone Sealants and High Performance Sealants.

  • Mr. Navin Keswani of Aukbond India Pvt. Ltd., presented a paper on Aluminium Composite Panel Cladding – Technology & Systems.

  • Mr. R. Subramanian, National Manager (Marketing & Sales), Saint-Gobain Glass India Ltd., presented a paper on Trends in usage of coated glass in Architectural Segment.

  • Mr. Ashok Khemlani, of Cradle Runways & Technoclean India Pvt. Ltd., presented a paper on Façade Access & Façade Maintenance.

  • Mr. Amit Malhotra of McCoy Silicones Ltd., India, presented the vote of thanks on both days of the seminar, thanking the speakers who have come over long distance and also the visitors who have visited from different parts of the country.

The event was pubilicised all over the country through construction and glass industry related magazines, daily news papers, etc. and received excellent response. Direct mailers were sent to architects, glass traders, interior designers etc. As a result of the wide publicity, the total number of visitors were around 15,000 out of which the trade visitors were nearly 9,000.

According the feedback received from the participants, the overall impression of the show has been declared as “Very Good” and nothing less.

With the overwhelming response received by the participants and due to the popular demand, the organisers immediately announced “Zak Glasstech 2004 International” to be organised at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi during August 12 - 15, 2004.
